Is Jillian serious? Wes = LIAR.
Tonight was the first episode I’ve seen this season and I’m glad I haven’t wasted my life watching it. Silly, silly girl…
Hey, it was worth a shot.
I’m so absent from the blogosphere these days. Kind of because I’m actually wedding planning. Or trying, anyway. I visited a few locations this past weekend and FELL.IN.LOVE with one of them. For those who’ve been following, I checked out Spring Valley Country Club – the one I had found online – and didn’t love it. BUT! I found a gorgeous location in Newport, RI and really want to get married there.
Step two: get fiance to agree on a date.
It’s never ending. What can you do? At least I have a dress ordered and two places I love (at deeply discounted minimums, thanks to my wheeling and dealing) to show my fiance when he starts thinking about this stuff.
In other news, I had to take the dog to the vet today. Poor pup has a little infection. A round of antibiotics and he will be good as new.
What’s new with you guys? Any excitement?
Hey HMPFMW groupies – here’s another blog to check out. It’s highly amusing; I recommend it. Everyone say hello to Wiggs.
Turns out, Wiggs and I have lots in common.
1. We are both brides-to-be. (The similarity on that topic stops there – she seems totally put together and has patience for DIY stuff).
2. We’re both only children. (I know that comes as a shock to you, readers. Yes, I’m an only child. Cue chorus of “It figures”-esque type groans).
3. We both heart pop culture and all things fabulous.
Thanks for finding me, Wiggs. And send me some wedding planning tips. Like how to wheel and deal effectively. FYI, readers – she is getting married in a month and planned a 200+ guest wedding for under $20k. I aspire to follow in her footsteps!
Wow. I had puffy Michael Jackson stickers that I stuck to my closet door when I was a little kid.
Say what you want about the guy; no entertainer ever has or ever will have the impact on music that this man had.
No clue what this means. Except something about my having balls.
Just kidding… about the donation thing – well, not really. 🙂 You can/should still totally donate. Now that the planning is in action, I’ll for real need them.
Drum roll, please….. I ordered my dress. Wait, that’s not news, since I told you in my last post. I’m so busy lately that I can’t keep things straight in my head.
Drum roll, part two…. I’ve got BM dress options for you to take a gander at. Feast your eyes on this, this, this, this, this, and this. Make sure you check them out in the platinum and charcoal colors. I sent them all to my loving BM’s for their humble opinions, as I want everyone to feel comfortable and like what they’re wearing. While I got a chorus of “I’ll wear a curtain if you want me to” type responses, this one seemed to be the fan fave. I’m going to go this weekend to a bridal boutique nearby and check it out in person. Hopefully if all goes well, we’ll be ordering them!
Other big “news” – it’s not official, but it’s looking like our wedding might be November 14. The places I’m checking out have that date available at deep discounts and so that date sounds good to me! Will have more solid plans/deets on that after this weekend.
What else. Work has been exceedingly annoying, but I won’t delve into that. The house stuff is moving along. Looks like we’ll be in our first home by mid-July! It’s all coming together – can you believe it?!?!
Please let me know your thoughts on the BM options – and one more question. What do you think I should do for my junior bridesmaid? She’s 13. Do I take her to David’s Bridal and find her a charcoal colored dress that will compliment these? Or could it possibly be age-appropriate?
So excited and I REALLY want to post a picture here so you guys can check it out, but then I realized that my fiance will see it if I do that. So, it has to stay under wraps, but I will tell you two things:
1. It’s stunning.
2. It isn’t insanely expensive.
In other news, BM dresses are IMPOSSIBLE. They all look like unfortunate prom dresses – anyone agree? I’m looking for a platinum/charcoal-colored cocktail dress. Anyone got 9 of them in various sizes laying around? A couple of my BM’s searched with me this weekend, and we found one dress that I really like but it was brown. It was a knee-length, fitted dress with removable spaghetti straps (liked it better with the straps) and was very chic. I wrote down the style number so I could scour for other colors and sizes, to no avail. Lesson of the weekend: department stores have better dresses than bridal shops when it comes to BM’s. I swear, every single dress in those bridal shops has either a sash or a bow! What happened to simple elegance?
SIGH. Well, at least I’m in action now! And once I have BM dress options, I’ll DEFINITELY post them. But unfortunately, kids, the wedding dress has to remain top secret so my fiance doesn’t catch a gander.
Sorry for the lack of updates. As per usual, BUSY.
Brief synopsis –
1. Remember that promotion I went for and didn’t get? Um, I am training the person who got it tomorrow. Yes, you read that correctly. Talk about adding insult to injury.
2. Drum roll, please…. we got a house! We are so, so excited. 🙂
3. MOH coming in town this weekend. She and another fabulous BM are coming with me to dress hunt on Saturday. Photos to come of what we find.
4. I’m wheeling and dealing with a few venues – you’d be so proud. I’m getting pretty savvy in my desperation and negotiating is actually working.
On another note, did any of you watch Wedding Day? I did not see it, but am curious and will try to watch the next one for inspiration.
We put in an offer on a house and are waiting to hear. HOLY. MOLY.
Allegedly, we’ll know by afternoon tomorrow. How am I supposed to sleep tonight? I think it would be in my best interest to NOT watch HGTV. Hitch is on – maybe I’ll watch that.
OMG, it will be a fantasy to have a backyard that is not a parking lot.
